Actually, it was long overdue: The first own album of Greg Parker, who has always had his home at Plastic City. Everything begun with his friendship to Terry Lee Brown Junior, who brought him to produce own tracks. At this time, Greg Parker was already a local hero in and around Darmstadt and inspired his followers with intense and deep Tech-house sets. In 2006 he co-produced the Terry Lee Brown Junior track "I Feel Lost" which was released on Terry's Album "Karambolage". Since then, the tracks by Greg Parker get an enormous popularity. Be it on vinyl (2009 with the great "All The Good Things EP" and the three digital EP's "Dreams", "Drop Out" and "Understanding" on the sub-label Plastic City. Play), on compilations such as "Plastic City Radio Show, Season Two","Terry's Café" or "Zurich Session" or as a remixer for Terry Lee Brown Junior, The Timewriter, nor elle, Smalltown Collective or modified Tojami Sessions. Greg Parker also experimented very successfully with Terry Lee Brown Junior in the fields of electronica, dub, lounge and as the remix team "Elephants And Lollipops" (for example for the track "Alex Flatner feat. Lopazz - Perfect Circles" on Circle Music). At the latest it should be clear here: The creative output is based on a source of inspirational creativity. Paris Session, mixed by DJ Yellow
The next electronic City Guide takes us into the magic spirit from Paris. Each compilation from the new "City Session" series shows us a place which is known for its vibrant nightlife. In the case of the second episode, Plastic City has decided to take a look at the French capital Paris, compiled by the French DJ Yellow. Because of his brilliant album "Ending Of Time", which was released in autumn 2009, and because of he is one of the leading DJs and producers in France for years, he is the perfect choice. DJ Yellow purchased his first slabs of vinyl at the tender age of 13, in the year of 1979. With a pair of turntables that he acquired from his older brother, the sounds of James Brown, Barry White and more obscure contemporaries inspired him to pursue his dream to become a DJ, his chance to rise from a life in poverty in the Parisian ghetto. When he met Bob Sinclar in the early 90's during a night out, things took a turn. As young Alain was not satisfied with local fame alone, they jointly set out to explore new means to bring the music he loved so much to a larger audience. With this philosophy in mind, they started their label Yellow Productions in 1993, to critical acclaim. An underground label at first, it was perhaps Yellow's search for personality and his ear for quality that opened the door to a colourful palette of signings, that included artists as diverse as Dimitri From Paris, Kid Loco, Bang Bang, Joe Claussell, Salome de Bahia and of course Bob Sinclar himself, all of which have helped to shape the French sound, as it is today. Available Formats: CD, mp3.
The Timewriter - Tiefenschön
Being the sixth album from Jean F. Cochois aka The Timewriter, this latest one is a fresh surprise in many ways. First and foremost, he has chosen the German title Tiefenschön, which could be translated as 'beautiful depth', but really it is a more poetic way of saying that in the German language. Secondly, he has positioned himself in an altogether different way on a musical basis but still continues in his unmistakeable Timewriter style, and once again proves as a producer his fine feeling for sound and musical arrangement. After a long musical journey beginning in 1994 with his first single and subsequent albums, he now melts together his continuously developing sound with the sound of the good old days. The results are deep and tech house tracks which have a warm old school twist and flavour to them at the same time as totally hitting the zeitgeist. "Tiefenschön" as an album is a complete whirlwind having a raw and dirty feel to it, albeit without losing focus on the original and well-known Jean F. Cochois sound. This is an extremely strong club album with a powerful recognition value – not only musically, but also visually thanks to its album cover. Emotionally loaded with this pleasant kind of pain that just hurts in the right places. Not only as a producer and remixer, but also as DJ, The Timewriter enjoys the respect he receives internationally since the last 15 Years. He held a residency in Sven Väth’s Cocoon Club and plays in Clubs all across the globe. On a regular basis he presents his own mix-CD series “Deep Train” of which Vol. 6 was voted Album of the Month in Mix Mag UK. Available Formats: CD, 2LP, mp3; DJ Feedbacks: Tiefenschön.
Sunrise at Cala Benirrás (Ibiza), mixed by Sin Plomo
Sin Plomo is one of the most famous Djs and producer based in Ibiza and well known for his feeling for the audience. The “Sunrise” compilations on Plastic City announces the summer year after year and is as successful as the latest release from Sin Plomo called “Desierto” on the “Plastic City. Play" last year. Sin Plomo picked only the finest and hottest releases for his new compilation again. In his playlist some of Plastic City's latest releases like Sasch BBC's “Setuper” or Bucher & Kessidis' “Time”, of course. Right from the beginning the man behind the Chica Disco compilation series that only features productions originated on the island surprises the listener with absolutely warm and melodic tunes that find their way into legs and feet directly. Between dry grooves and wet chords and stabs Plomo opens a wide range of ecstatic emotions and summer feelings with sentimental vocals, multilayered rhythm structures and wide electric landscapes the official DJ of the “Bacardi B-Live Germany Tour 2008/2009” shows once more that he is able to set different climaxes in his DJ sets by turning the energy level up and down and back again. No matter whether tribal, electronic, progressive, house or tech house – Sin Plomo who is furthermore one half of the Ministers Of Music beside his mate Torsten Stenzel is the master of his tunes and opens new thematic fields with every record he plays. So this is the first summer breeze of the year. Enjoy! Available Formats: CD, mp3.
Lukas Greenberg - Prisoner In A Club
With his first album “Rhode Stories” Lukas Greenberg received a lot of attention and convinced the critics (e.g. “Rhode Stories” was record of the month in Raveline). The mixture of house, easy listening, electro and downbeat combined with soulful vocals and spoken words opened a new chapter of relaxed and at the same time still deep sound on Plastic City. The tracks from Lukas Greenberg are solid, emotional and straight with a touch of naturalism. For his second album “Prisoner With A Key” Lukas Greenberg improves that concept from his first album “Rhode Stories”: Spreading out his facilities in combining and creating sounds, he wrotes chapters for his new "book of sounds". Lukas Greenberg worked together again with the singer and electronic musician Karl Jenkins aka Ideophonic from Great Britain, who was also part of the “Rhode Stories” production process before. Furthermore he engaged the vocalist Nica Brooke, who is working on her new album at the moment together with Grammy Award winner Don Mizell. The result is a great combination of warm, bright and tight tracks which we inclined to call album art. “Prisoner With A Key” is also a real masterpiece on account of metamorphosing jazz, funk and soul elements into a new and electronic surrounding. "Prisoner In A Club" is a remix album from “Prisoner With A Key” with brand new versions for the party people around the word. Available Format: mp3
NEW SINGLE RELEASES
Greg Parker - Get High
After his latest three digital releases on Plastic City. Play and the outstanding “All Good Things EP” on vinyl last year, Greg Parker just published his first album “10 Solutions” in spring 2010 on Plastic City. It contains already a dub version of the final track “Get High”. Therefore now here comes the release of the original version with remixes by Terry Lee Brown Junior and Voltan. You will be surprised how energetic and powerful the original version will infiltrate your veins. With “Get High” Greg Parker created a very funky and stomping tech house track that developes enormously during its 9:44 minutes runtime. Beats and basses are changing constantly it seems. Percussions seem to accrue but stay diaphanous magically the hole time. The vocals unfurl an absolutely hypnotic effect. Terry Lee Brown Junior who had already two releases on Plastic City. Play (“Electric Avenue”) and Plastic City (re-release of “Bad House Music” released 1995 at first) in 2010, takes all the energy of the original and calms it down. A bit dark but very relaxed his bleak bassline is contrasted by light chords in the background. A really great remix with an enormous drive. Voltan makes it a bit more melancholic. Straight and strait beats combined with very thin highs are building the surrounding for vocals and this dubby atmosphere. His remix concentrates on the more emotional characteristics of the original track. A bit bigger room here, a bit other vocal work there and a bit more melody in the foreground. This remix is a really good transformation of all the energy of the original. Available Formats: 12", mp3.
Bucher & Kessidis - Fate
Next strike of Plastic City in early 2010 is the new single of Bucher & Kessidis. With their fresh style between Chicaco House, Disco, Funk and Detroit Techno they convinced The Timewriter to make a remix of his 'Night Over Sundyberg' (appeared on the Resensed Part 2 compilation) and the track 'La Onda' appeared on the 'Plastic City Radio Show Part 2' mixed and compiled by Gorge. The two digital releases 'Time' and 'The Dark Night EP' on Plastic City. Play convinced with emotional deepness and a wide colourful sound so that The Timewriter remixed their track 'The Space In Between'. Now we have the first vinyl release on Plastic City with two strong remixes from SIS and Daniel Sinco. The original version of 'Fate' is a rhythmically strong and very groovy monster of a house track. Fluffy percussions and beats are building a strong base for the bright and heavenly chords flanked by soulful vocals and vocal snippets. With 'Fate' Bucher & Kessidis, who started working together in early 2006 and had releases on labels like Raum...Musik, Separé and Dessous so far, show their ability to create deep and funky tech house tunes for the prime time. Berlin based achiever SIS made a very deep interpretation of 'Fate'. Creating a bigger room with less intense percussions like the original uses, the chords sound more synthetic and less organic. Available Formats: 12", mp3.
DJ Yellow presents Mindz Kontrol Ultra - No Way You Can Sleep
His releases and remixes (e.g. for "Nacho Marco - Estefania" on Plastic City last year) can be found on labels like Saw Recordings, Ovum, Slip'n'Slide, ProgCity Deep Trax. His tracks also appear on many mix compilations like "Fabric 38", "On the Nippon Road" (Terminal M) and the Plastic City compilation "Imagination Of The Shape". On the new album DJ Yellow fuses characteristics of deep, funky and tech-house by using tender basses and well dosed percussion lines, paired with some real e-bass parts one feels remembered to the album "Paradise" from Bob Sinclar (which Alain assisted to). But these little elements can only be seen as little quotes to the roots. All in all the album, which was produced together with Portuguese producer Tiago Fragateiro (aka Hi-Tech²), provides a clever mixture of deep and funkyness. Using dark and promising spoken words from time to time the record takes a mystic narrative mindset at the very beginning. What follows is an emulsion of warm arrangements with a strong and well balanced base that aims directly to the dancefloor. Compared with the very playful album "Intermission" which he created together with Astrid Suryanto in 2008, this is a very grounded complement of his artificial work. Available Formats: 12", mp3.
Gorge - The Remixes
Gorge aka Pit Waldmann expired electronic music in the late 80’s. He grew up with the sound of Thorsten Fenslau and Alexander Abraham and began to produce his own music in the middle of the 90’s. Taking a trip through all kinds of electronic music he finally came back to house and techno music influenced by deep Chicago house sound and Tech-House. The co-founder of 8bit Records (founded together with Nick Curly in 2005) is producing electronic music since the middle of the nineties and convinced on Plastic City last year with his great “Bambossa” release. Afterwards the “Kassiande EP” and the “Garuna EP “ followed on Freerange and 8bit. This year, he released the brilliant "Ayomide EP" on Plastic City. His newest mix compilation “8 Bit Reason Part 2” will be in stores november 2009 as well. Furthermore he presents the “Plastic City Radio Show” every week on Radio Ibiza Sonica and other radio stations worldwide. With this strong releases on Plastic City, Gorge have prepared himself perfectly to show his talent for the right emotions at the right moments. This Remix EP comes with fresh new mixes from Ray Okpara, Nicole Moudaber & Kenqou! The original tracks you can find on the EPs "Bambossa" and "Ayomide". Available Formats: 12", mp3.
Sasch BBC - Setuper
Sasch BBC aka Sascha Ries is one of most interesting and fresh artists of Germany's Rhein-Main-Area. With his residency at Loft Club Ludwigshafen he attained cult status and played at Cocoon Club, 50 Grad, King Kahemanema, Kingka Beach Club or at Time Warp. Between 1997 and 2000 he produced two albums with the hip hop group Noname Produkt and was appetizer for big German hip hop acts like Blumentopf, Freundeskreis or the Specialists. With his latest release on Hertzklopfen with his brother in crime Caspar he received great support by Richie Hawtin, Spieltape or Gel Abril. With his 'Catfood' track he set a special highlight in Kriss Dior's playlist of 'Plastic City Radio Show'. No it's time for him to enter Plastic City. With this nine minute monster Sasch BBC matches perfectly up with the Plastic City sound characteristics. Warm and laid-back organ chords go along with sexy tribal percussions and interconnected rhythm structures. It's dry, sexy and functional. With 'Flanke' Sasch BBC goes the more techy way. The reduced arrangement has its focus on the percussions, the beats and bass. Only a funny trumpet sample lights up the seriousness of the arrangement. Whereby the rhythmic baubles stay in the center. Available Formats: 12", mp3.
NEW MP3 EP RELEASES
Lukas Greenberg - Down The Drain
After his successful debut on Plastic City in 2007 with his first two EPs "What A day" and "Behind Doors" and the following album "Rhode´Stories", Nikolas Jakoby a.k.a. Quite a lot residencies and years of dance floor experience brought him to own productions which he started on an Atari Mega 2. He founded his label “Synphon Records” and received remix requests from Peter Schilling and Budai & Vic amongst others. With his albums “Rhode´Stories” and "Prisoner With A Key", Lukas Greenberg verify his sense for high quality listening stuff. Instant Pleasure - Make It Right
Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark, Instant Pleasure a.k.a. Jørn Johansen has been producing music since the mid 90’ies. He had his first release on Plastic City in summer 2001 with his "Catch A Groove" single. Since then Jørn Johansen hasn’t produced any music. So after almost a decade of absence from the music scene he felt it was about time to start producing again. A view month ago we found his new demo in our mailbox and of course we get in contact with him (again). This is the story behind the "Let´s Ride EP" which was released in december 2009. His trademark is still a groovy and melodic orientated sound. In 2010 he comes back with his new release called "Make It Right" - again on Plastic City. Available Format: mp3.
Bucher & Kessidis - Saratoga
In 1993 a good friend of Tom Bucher sparked his interest in electronic music. Tom began with DJ performances, playing Techno & Trance. Later on, he also played House, which is still his favorite style of music. In 1999 he started to produce electronic music with two friends. In 1999, they released there first vinyl under the project name „Tojami Sessions“ on the label “In Between Entertaiment“, followed by releases for „Separe“, „Raum …Musik“ and „Dessous Rec.“ Christos Kessidis fell in love with electronic music in the mid 90´s and was especially amazed with the New York Deep-House sound. He started to concentrate on his skills as a DJ in a young age. Through the years he established his own sound and style. His DJ sets always varied. This is especially true for his energetic and emotionally sets that manage to get everybody in the perfect mood. He has released tracks on labels like Exun Records, 8Bit and Aenaria Music. After their 12" release "Fate" in spring 2010, here comes the next brilliant EP from the two guys, again on Plastic City. Available Format: mp3.
J. Axel - Keep Receiving
“Start Receiving”, released 2009 on Plastic City, is an extraordinary Deep House album. Through the strait structures of the arrangements the voices of both vocalists are able to breathe while the romantic and melancholic synthesizer combinations create a wide and strong background for the melodies they create. In the instrumental tracks Jonathan Axelsson aka J. Axel draws fields of emotional colours that are opening like huge blossoms. Between Lounge and Deep House Jonathan turns every stone and discovers little dimensions he explores with his synthesizers. “Start Receiving” is a really big album that hits heart, body and soul directly. On this Album, J.Axel also featured the Sumatra born vocalist Astrid Suryanto, who worked with Victor Calderone, John Digweed or The Prodigy's Neil McLellan so far. They started working together and Statra Records released their first production “You Give Me (Love)”. But one more female voice supports a track on the album: the voice of Stockholm based Zemya Hamilton. Zemya Hamilton releases singles and albums since 1989 on labels like Sonet Grammofon, WEA, EastWest or Warner, where she published her album “Trollbunden” in 1993. In june 2010 J. Axel comes back with four brand new remixes, taken from the current album, bundled as "Keep Receiving". Available Format: mp3.

Maybe the next area will also be known in the history of Plastic City as "Imagination Of The Shape".

Plastic City Play. Play. Play Plastic City is reinventing itself by playfully dreaming up alternative realities – again and again, one after the other. Time for a resumee: The play of words with "Plastic City" and "Play", which originally was merely a name of a compilation concept in 2006, get its inherent autonomy. Without any previously construction plan the town has grown again and retroactive we can ascertain, that Plastic City got a new suburb (Kat#: play). A lot of new interesting faces romp around there: Greek Nikola Gala and Frenchman El Farouki, the Swiss artist Da Funk, the Hungarians Budai & Vic, Berlin based Lukas Greenberg, Adam Jace from Australia as well as Lincoln Six Echo from Poland. All of them started to release on "Plastic City. Play" and if you heard some of their releases you know, that this is the next generation of young fresh and hungry artists. And like throughout in a city the new arrivals and the known habitants mix each other very fast and build something innovative. The compilation "Plastic City Play. Play. Play" is a summary of artists and tracks from this new sublabel, will show this growth. On top of this, you can find some new track which were never released on Plastic City before.
